Ever expanding, the Marvel universe simply doesn’t disappoint.

I love Marvel films; I’m sure I’d get laughed out of Comic-con by the diehard following but that doesn’t stop me from getting super excited at the opportunity to watch the latest Marvel Universe instalment for a second time. What’s more it was a chance to delve further into the upcoming blu ray extras.

Captain America: Civil war did not disappoint at the second time of watching, in fact, I think I can say I may even have enjoyed it more (no unexpected sound effects from my accompanying friend this time round; a definite help!)

The Marvel team have gone epic for this telling; more heros (is there a collective noun for a group of super heroes? There should be after this, seriously!) more action, superbly subtle villains with vengeance on mind, old favourites, new additions to the gang, twists to genuinely surprise you, and a social conscious that really gives a grown up feel to Captain America and his comrades.

There is a more somber tone throughout this instalment, you’ll get that from the trailer below, if you haven’t seen the film already. The Captain is hit with tough choices, sides to take, and heart-wrenching decisions that plunge our previously assembled avengers into stunned chaos that even makes me question where my loyalties liethe all American Cap, or the ego driven (though somewhat tempered these days) Tony ‘Iron Man’ Stark? There are still intertwined moments of comic genius, keeping the light-heartedness at the right level. In true tradition there is the regular post credits teaser of future Marvel adventures to come.

For your blu ray bonus viewing pleasure there is a good selection to keep you captivated just a little longer. First we get a look into the making of Civil War; getting to know the story and characters in more depth and a chance to see the unsung champions in action; a massive shout out to the fight coordinator who must have worked 24/7 with all the action in this flick.

To keep us hooked for the 3rd in Avengers series there are enough mentions of the infinity wars to keep us tantalised. Next up a little history trip through  the lives of both Captain America and Iron man, a synopsis of the journey so far for both key players. There is a succinct gag reel and extended scenes section, worth a watch, and definitely made me smile!

Finally there is an exclusive sneak-peek of Doctor Strange….if this had been the only bonus it would have been well worth it just for this.

So whether you are a Marvel enthusiast or a more gentle admirer, I would add this to your collection, 100% worth it.
