Worldwide singing phenomenon Massaoke announced this week a very special, one-off ‘Battle Royale’ event at London’s O2 Islington Academy on Friday October 21, fresh from a sold-out stint at Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe festivals 2016.
As well as sell-out monthly nights in London, the musical outfit and clubbing phenomenon brings Massaoke joy to thousands of fans at festivals around the UK including Glastonbury, Latitude and T in the Park, culminating in a three-week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The event has gone from strength-to-strength and in 2015 alone over 100,000 people experienced the craze that is Massaoke.
The band and powerhouse behind Massaoke started out over five years ago as the Friday I’m in Love live act, and comprises a group of experienced musicians including Neil Winspear on guitar and vocals, Mark Nilsson on keys and vocals, Rye Eden on bass and Mat Morrisroe on drums, and is based on an idea by co-founder Jayne Savva. The band also has a visual artist, Ethan McClean, in charge of lyrics and video on the giant Massaoke screens. The key member of the band at each Massaoke show, however, is the audience itself.
“Best night out ever” – Pub Landlord Al Murray
