Whilst the crowd started to build up, many couldn’t withhold the anticipation and starting humming away to various CLOAK tracks before the lights came on and entered JORDAN RAKEI’S supporting act, SAM WILLS. Firing up the stage with his amazing track, Electrified, from his debut album, ‘Only When We’re Naked’ the crowd got into the swing on things immediately.
Before the arrival of JORDAN RAKEI and his musical squad, SAM WILLS continued to thrill the audience with songs such as Unify (created with the help of JORDAN RAKEI himself), In The Midst Of It All (TOM MISCH) and ending with Light On Me (another one produced with JORDAN RAKEI)
SAM WILLS left us with smiles on our faces and we were once again left with hot anticipation for the man himself, JORDAN RAKEI to appear. And finally, the moment came were many of us felt star-struck as the band appeared on stage. There was no beating around the bush with JORDAN RAKEI as he dove straight in with his hit Midnight Mischiefs followed by Snitch and a number of tracks from his latest album CLOAK, 2016 including a few numbers from his GROOVE CURSE EP.
JORDAN RAKEI then surprised us all as he brought one of his first tracks, Selfish, back on the stage and the nostalgia was real! It was evident that JORDAN’S growth was profound from his early days to now. The advancements he’s made as an artist is something that cannot be misheard… and there was more to come.
Multiple songs were played through from the CLOAK album including, ‘Blame It On The Youth’, ‘Lost Myself’ and before ending the gig with ‘Lost Myself’, a track he made for his meditation ritual, where he stood away from his keyboard and mixer, so that he could jump on his guitar to accompany him.
Everyone was mellow, in either a trance-like state or jamming, to the vibes that emitted throughout the music waves. JORDAN RAKEI is a talent that has been recognised and deserves the attention that he gets. With vocals simultaneously strong and soft with an ear for sound, his music is a collaboration of passion, hard work and meditation.
