“Chaotic, uber-hyper and loads of fun” – Dazed
“Cyber-electronic-hyper-pop” – FACT
After a dragging twelve long months, GIRLI announced her official “Fuck Off Back to LA” single release towards the end of last month. The fan-favourite single “Fuck Off Back to L.A”, available to stream and purchase on all digital platforms now via PMR Records.
“The sound of brightly coloured, sugar-rushing rebellion” – NME
“Fuck Right Back Off” originally appeared on her much loved online pseudo-pirate radio show, GIRLI FM, as an eclectic, glitzy pop-anthem and live favourite that has come to represent everything that is unique about the rising star. Taking her trademark tongue-in-cheek lyrics and covering them with a sensationally glossy pop-sheen courtesy of producer Mr. Watt, ‘Fuck Off Back to LA’ is an undeniably British pop banger that serves as the perfect introduction to her “take no prisoners” approach to music.
“Uber-millennial melting pot of influences” – Noisey
Not only has GIRLI delved in her music, she has just come off the back of supporting indie darling OSCAR across his UK tour, which has seen her bring her raucous DIY (as seen in the video above) sets across the country. This follows a healthy, busy year for the native Londoner, having also collaborated with some of the UK’s hottest producers (including RAGZ ORIGINALE, Z DOT and GRADES), selling out her last few London gigs this year and popping up on a very special remix of Oscar’s trademark single, ‘Breaking My Phone’.
GIRLI performed superbly at her sold-out homecoming show at Camden Assembly this Nov. 24th. That’s not all! London’s most explosive anti-star GIRLI announced a new partnership with UK collective GIRLS AGAINST for her upcoming headline show at Camden Assembly on that day.
GIRLS AGAINST is an exciting London-based campaign fighting against sexual harassment and sexual assault in the live music community. The collective had a prominent presence at GIRLI’s sold-out headline show on Thursday 24th November where they distributed material and sold merchanise as well as bringing awareness.
Speaking on their involvement, GIRLI says
“Girls Against speak up about something very close to my heart, and something that’s ignored too much. I’ve been groped at gigs and made to feel uncomfortable. It’s something that happens to all sexes but particularly girls, which makes gigs the opposite of what they should be – a safe, friendly and fun environment for everyone to enjoy the music. They’re gonna be coming along to the gig to spread the word that if you or anyone you know is a victim of harassment or groping at a gig that you can speak up about it without being ignored and that there are people you can tell and get help. NO ONE SHOULD FEEL SCARED OR VULNERABLE AT A GIG.”
After joining friend and collaborator OSCARr on his UK tour that ended in a penultimate, raucous homecoming show at London’s Tufnell Park Dome this October, GIRLI brang her much lauded and unmissable live show to Camden Assembly for her second sold-out headline show in London in the past six months. This girl is more than fire, she is unmistakably GIRLI.
