On 7th November 2016, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) revealed the recipients of the ASCAP Vanguard Award 2016 & guess who’s lined up to receive the award? Our very own British born JESS GLYNE and MNEK! This annual celebration of songwriters and composers will take place tomorrow, 10th November 2016 at One Embankment.
The Vanguard Award acknowledges the outstanding impact of their ASCAP members on their musical genres that will help shape the future of music. Previous recipients include Walk The Moon, St. Vincent, fun, Kendrick Lamar, Diplo, Calvin Harris, Janelle Monáe and more.
ASCAP President Paul Williams said “We are thrilled to honour both Jess Glynne and MNEK with the ASCAP Vanguard Award. Both artists are extremely unique British talents. Jess has reached a multigenerational demographic with her soulful pop music and inspired songwriting. MNEK’s outstanding songs for superstars such as Beyoncé, Madonna and Kylie Minogue have made him an unmistakable force in music.”
Jess Glynne our Grammy Award-winning pop singer, songwriter and performer. She is the biggest selling debut UK artist of 2015 having achieved a record-breaking five #1 singles that have sold over 10 million copies and a #1 debut album which has sold over 1.7 million copies worldwide! If that hasn’t impressed you enough, at the end of this year she will embark on her first highly anticipated UK arena tour.
In regards to the ASCAP Vanguard Awards, Jess expressed “The Vanguard award marks the end of a special couple of years for me. To be recognised not only by the public but by your peers, by other songwriters, for the music you are making is so heart-warming. When I look at the names that have won these awards on both sides of the Atlantic I can’t even believe that I have been put in such a category. I just want to say thank you so much and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this.”
MNEK has also achieved numerous accolades over the past few years. Aged just 2, he is Grammy Award-nominated as well as a luminary songwriter and producer who, in addition to his own artist career, has been involved with 13 UK Top 20 singles. MNEK’s most recent hit single “Never Forget You” has achieved over 3.5 million sales globally.

The award ceremony hosted At One Embankment shall also include a presentation of the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award To Duran Duran, as well as the announcements of the ASCAP Global Impact, Song of the Year, Top Digital Song, Top EDM Song and Film Score of the Year. The evening will be attended by some of the top names in the music and entertainment industry.
