With the release of Corinne Bailey Rae’s new album on May 13th 2016, The Heart Speaks In Whispers, she has announced Jodie Abacus as her supporting artist for her tour.
Singles like ‘Good Feelings’ and ‘I’ll Be That Friend’ by the South London-born singer/song-writer, Jodie Abacus, have helped him make a bold name for himself today. He stands as one of the prime figures of London’s flourishing ‘future soul’ movement with singers like Daley, Janelle Monae and Alex Clare. This has been an immensely pro-active year for Jodie as he has been touring alongside artists like Jamie Woon and Laura Myula, playlists regularly airing on British radio and the ONLY British artist invited to play at The Roots legendary Roots Picnic, playing on the same line up as Anderson Paak, Future and Usher.
After a summer of playing at every major UK festival from Glastonbury to Secret Garden Party, Jodie is finishing off his debut album LP featuring collaborations with Julio Bashmore, Tobias Jesso Jr., Duke Dumont, Ariel Rechtshaid (Beyonce, Adele, HAIM), and Rahki (Eminem, Kendrick Lamar). He says it will be ‘an honest mix of refreshing, nostalgic excitement, and something new coming to the UK… but honest first and foremost.’
After listening to his old material, I’m already enthralled by what to expect with his upcoming music fusion.
